Creating Art and Stories for Rites of Passage
Come together with your friends and family to honor an important Rite of Passage. Workshops are designed to be interactive, process-oriented experiences that explore your Rite of Passage through creative writing, visual art and personal storytelling within the context of your group. Art and stories created in the workshops can be given as gifts, incorporated in an illustrated family history book, or shared at a family celebration.
Rites of Passage ideas:
- Create a collaborative piece of artwork for a wedding present or bridal shower gift
- Honor the life of a loved one who has passed away with a memorial art project
- Celebrate the birth of a new baby in the family
- Other ideas include art and stories for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and holidays.
Celebrating Family Stories
Bring your family together for an interactive storytelling experience. In this private workshop customized for your family, you will have the opportunity to write and illustrate a collection of your family stories. Within the workshop you will have the opportunity to share your stories with each other; strengthening the bonds between generations, deepening your understanding of family traditions, and learning more about your ancestors. The workshop will also focus on developing techniques for writing personal narratives and combining reproductions of photographs with painting and drawing illustrations. Following the workshop families have the option of creating a Family Heirloom Art booklet celebrating their collection of stories created during the workshop.

"I LOVE IT!!! My first glance at the booklet we made in the family workshop caused the hair on my neck to stand up and tears filled my eyes! It is so much better than I imagined it could be!"
